India is facing a tragic high in the COVID-19 case. The country recorded 259170 new cases and 1761 deaths on Tuesday, according to MoHFW. With this, India has reached 15,321,089 COVID-19 cases in total while the active case’s tally has reached 2 million.
All states across India have started applying new guidelines to flatten the second COVID-19 wave. Here are the latest rules of entry, travel, lockdown, curfew across India.
Delhi: Delhi govt. has announced a six-day lockdown on Monday,19th April from 10 pm till 5 am on April 26. Delhi is the worst-hit city in India with 25,500 fresh cases on Sunday. Chief Minister Mr. Arvind Kejriwal said that the situation had left no other option and a strict lockdown was necessary to prevent a possible ‘tragedy’. Metro services during this period will be available for the exempted category of people as per the latest govt. order on the production of the valid IDs. During the lockdown, travel will be allowed only up to 50 percent seating capacity in the Delhi Metro and no standing passenger will be allowed. CM also appealed to migrant laborers not to leave the UT. He suggested that the migrants should not panic as the lockdown is for a short period of time.
Maharashtra: Maharashtra is India’s worst-hit state with COVID-19. The state is recording more than 50000 new cases daily. The state government had imposed 15-day-long “lockdown-like” restriction from 14 April. Maharastra CM Udhav Thackeray announced a restriction on the movement of person and non-essential services. The govt also imposed Section 144 of CrPC to prohibit the assembly of five or more people at a spot.
Maharashtra CM is thinking of a strict lockdown in the next 2 days as the situation is getting worse.
Rajasthan: Rajasthan is among the first states who imposed curfew in its territory. The state govt has announced a night curfew on 5th April. Then they announced the weekend curfew on 16th April as cases spike. After analyzing the situation the state CM Mr. Ashok Gehlot announced a strict lockdown in Rajasthan till May 3rd and termed it as ‘Jan Anushashan Pakhwara’ (Public Discipline Fortnight). During the period, all the essential services such as government offices, health services, vegetable markets, grocery stores, dairies, etc. will remain open while all non-essential services will be shut. The weddings and last rites will continue to be permitted as per the orders issued on April 14. Importantly, to prevent the migration of laborers, the industries and manufacturing units will continue to function during the period also.
Chhattisgarh: Amid a rise in the number of COVID-19 cases in Chhattisgarh, the govt imposed a night curfew in Sukma from April 15 and will continue till April 30. Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel held a meeting with state officials to ramp up testing in rural areas as now the COVID-19 cases are on the rise there. The govt. made it mandatory to get a Covid test for anyone entering the state as the number of active cases in the state has reached 1,28,019.
Air Travel Guidelines: Govt. of India issued guidelines regarding air travel for international passengers in February 2021. According to the guidelines:
1. All travelers should submit a self-declaration form on the online Air Suvidha portal (www.newdelhiairport.in) before the scheduled travel
2. They have to upload a negative COVID-19 RT-PCR report. This test should have been conducted within 72 hrs prior to undertaking the journey.
3. Each passenger shall also submit a declaration with respect to the authenticity of the report and will be liable for criminal prosecution if found otherwise.
4. They should also give an undertaking on the portal or otherwise to Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, through concerned airlines before they are allowed to undertake the journey that they would abide by the decision of the appropriate government authority to undergo home quarantine/ self-monitoring of their health for 14 days, or as warranted.
5.Arrival in India without a negative report shall be allowed only for those traveling to India in the exigency of death in the family.
