Indian Govt has extended till 3rd May 2020. The lockdown is extended for 19 days in addition to 21 days existing lockdown from 24th March 2020. Govt also said that they will see the success of controlled mechanism and then apply the condition withdrawal of lockdown.

Govt also released an advisory for the movement of goods:

  • Inter-State and Intra-State movement of all truck and other goods carrier vehicle will be allowed with one driver and one other person alongside as long as driver carries a valid driving license. Both the essential and non-essential goods will be allowed without any further approval.
  • Empty truck goods carrier should also be allowed while they are going to pick up or returning back after delivery. Hence there is no cause to stop empty trucks as long as they have valid documents such as driving license and valid road permit.
  • Local authorities should make an active process for the movement of truck drivers and cleaners from their place of residence to the location of their trucks.
  • Railways, Airports, Seaports and Customs authorities have already been authorised to issue passes for their staff and contractual labour.

Most of all ports like Mumbai, Chennai, Delhi, Bangalore, Cochin, Ahmedabad are working now, subject to approvals and availability of manpower.
